Racing cars illustrate the next step in AI search. An AI file cannot win the race. Give buyers the answers they need to move forward. Find your answer gaps.

An llms.txt file does not show that your website answers a buyer's question or that an assistant will recommend your business. Before spending more on AI search, choose a question that matters to a sale and inspect the page meant to answer it.

A blue racing car follows three checkpoints: Find buyer questions, Check your answers, Choose the next step. WhatBuyersAsk.

AEO and GEO are names people use for work aimed at visibility in answer engines and generative search. They describe an area of activity, while the proposal still needs a concrete problem to solve. Ask which buyer questions will be investigated, which pages may change and how the team will assess the result.

Google's official guidance says Google Search does not use llms.txt, requires no special AI markup and continues to rely on search fundamentals. The file can be maintained for other services that use it, but its presence does not demonstrate eligibility or selection in Google.

Give a sitemap and structured data their normal jobs. A sitemap helps communicate URLs you want discovered. Appropriate structured data describes supported facts in the formats a search feature accepts. Keep it consistent with the visible page. Adding more markup cannot supply an explanation your buyer still needs to read.

Consider a software company with a polished homepage and an llms.txt file, but no explanation of its migration process. A buyer asking about implementation effort still lacks the details needed to assess it. The useful next task is to explain what moves, who does the work, what the customer must supply and what can delay the project.

Apply the same test to a glossary or FAQ. A definition can explain an unfamiliar term. A comparison can help someone choose between alternatives. A pricing explanation can clarify assumptions and exclusions. Select the format because it helps the reader make progress. There is no universal page length or question format that guarantees an assistant will select your content.

A small team can start with a short question set and a few important pages. Inspect the current answers, identify missing facts and record the changes you make. Keep crawl access, useful content and legitimate business information in the plan, and review optional experiments against the effort they consume.

If an agency recommends a new file or a special content template, ask which observed problem it addresses. Request a page example and the evidence it will collect afterward. That turns a vague AI search package into work you can review.

Start by listing the questions a serious prospect asks before contacting you. Our buyer question research approach can help you connect those questions with your offer, your audience and the decision your website needs to support.

Do I need llms.txt to appear in Google AI answers?

Google says it does not use that file for Search. Focus first on useful pages and the requirements described in its official search guidance.

Should I stop doing SEO?

Keep the work that helps customers and search services use your website. Ask what each proposed task fixes and how the result will be checked.
