Research generates an AEO packet from your existing website content. Deploy its AI-readable files alongside your pages—your agent can follow the included instructions without rebuilding your site.

  1. Research your website

    Inspect buyer questions, website coverage and citation evidence. Plan for around 20 minutes for a 100-page site; site access, competitor scope, provider response times and queues can make it longer.

  2. Download the generated packet

    The final research stage packages the saved website content into one ZIP. Download it when the research and bundle are ready.

  3. Deploy to your existing site

    Ask your agent to review review/DEPLOY.txt, merge public/ into your site, apply the relevant integration steps, and check the published URLs. Keep your existing pages and access rules.

How does the AEO packet improve an existing website?

It adds AI-readable versions of eligible website content, source-linked Markdown, a content map and optional read-only WebMCP tools alongside your existing pages. Your agent can follow the included deployment instructions, merge public files and apply relevant schema and link-header guidance. Review drafts and preserve existing access rules. These files support content discovery and use; they do not guarantee AI citations or rankings.

How long should I allow for a 100-page website?

Plan for around 20 minutes as an estimate, not a guaranteed completion time. Actual duration depends on site access, the chosen research scope, competitor work, provider responses and queues. Use wba research watch RUN_ID to see the current step. The AEO packet is generated at the end and includes up to 96 eligible selected page extracts.

What is WBA CLI?

WBA CLI connects AI agents and terminal users to WhatBuyersAsk. Agents can inspect research, answer gaps and saved reports, and download available AEO bundles to guide website improvements. Research runs on WhatBuyersAsk servers; closing your terminal does not stop it.

Do I need an account or research credits?

The public AI bot reachability check works without an account or research credits. Sign in when you need workspace research. Starting research uses the normal credit and concurrency checks. Installing the CLI does not buy credits or start research.

Which operating systems are supported?

The installer supports macOS and Linux on ARM64 and x64, including compatible WSL environments. It uses Node 22 or newer, or installs a private pinned runtime when needed. Native Windows is not supported by this shell installer.

How does login work, and is it saved?

Run wba login, sign in through your browser and match the pairing code before connecting your terminal. A separate seven-day CLI session is saved in your private local configuration. Run wba login again to save a fresh session, or wba logout to revoke it. Ordinary use does not extend the expiry. Passwords and provider API keys are not stored by the CLI.

Can I use WBA CLI with an AI agent?

Yes. Give an agent with terminal access the wba-cli skill and use --json for structured output. It can use the returned evidence to propose or implement improvements in your website project, within the access and instructions you give it. You control access to your local environment. The skill instructs agents to inspect existing work first and start or manage research only when requested. The CLI does not publish website changes automatically. It is not an IDE extension or an MCP server.

What can I download?

Download saved reports as Markdown or JSON and available AEO bundles as ZIP files. Availability and completeness checks still apply. PDF export is available through the portal’s Print or save PDF action, not through the CLI.

How do I check my connection or update?

Run wba status for Connected, Not connected or Unable to verify connection. Run wba doctor to check your installation, permissions and connection. Use wba update --check to check for a release, then wba update to install it while preserving your saved login. Older versions without the updater need the installer once more.

Can I keep separate workspace configurations?

Named profiles are not available yet. Set WBA_CONFIG_DIR to use a separate private configuration directory, then log in for that configuration. By default, the session is stored in ~/.config/whatbuyersask/session.json. Treat that directory as private and do not commit or share it.
